The house

One house, one party, one key.

Anna’s House sits in the olive groves above Xerokampos, three hundred metres from the sand at Alatsolimni. It takes up to five, which makes it a family house, or two couples, or a few friends who do not want a hotel corridor between them.

Whitewash, a balcony that catches the morning, and a pergola over the terrace for the part of the day when nobody wants sun. The garden is walled and the gate closes, so small children and the road never meet.

We do not let rooms and we do not share the house. When you take it, it is yours.

The beaches

Eleven of them, and you can have one to yourself.

Xerokampos is a string of bays rather than a resort. Fine sand and clear shallow water at one end, wild coves you walk to at the other.

Alatsolimni

The one below the house, three hundred metres down the track. Sand, and shallow a long way out. The salt lagoon behind it is a protected wetland.

Argilos

Natural clay in the rock at the water’s edge. People cover themselves in it and wait for it to dry. It is free, and it is the local spa.

The rest of them

Some have a taverna and a sunbed. Some have nothing at all and are reached on foot. In September you can usually pick.

The bare hills rising behind the village

The village

Everything you need, and not one thing more.

Traditional tavernas for the evening and two minimarkets for the bread and the coffee. That is the shopping. It is genuinely all there is, and it is the reason people come back.

Behind the village the land climbs into the Zakros mountains, and the walking starts where the tarmac stops. Old paths, small villages, and the gorge the Minoans used to reach the sea.

Greece charges every guest a nightly climate resilience fee on top of the rate. It is set by the government, it is collected on arrival, and it is not ours. {{CLIMATE_FEE}}

Minimum stay {{MIN_NIGHTS}}. Arrive after {{CHECKIN}}, leave by {{CHECKOUT}}. Linen, towels, water, electricity and the final clean are in the price.

Booking

How it works.

There is no instant booking button, because there is no call centre behind it. Nico or Diana reads every request.

  1. You ask

    Tell us your dates and how many of you there are. It costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

  2. We answer

    Usually within a day. If the dates are free you get a price for exactly those nights and the bank details.

  3. You transfer

    A bank transfer holds the week. We do not take cards, so nothing of yours sits on a payment page.

  4. We confirm

    The money arrives, the week is yours, and you get directions and a key arrangement that suits your flight.

Who we are

Nico and Diana.

We run the house ourselves. That means the person who answers your email is the person who will hand you the key, and if something is wrong in the house it is our problem rather than a management company’s.

We want you to find the place, not just the house: which bay is worth the walk, which taverna is open in May, and where the road stops being a road.
